Me: You ready for this?

Lane: So ready.

Me: Dude, gonna miss you but … me and three girls!

He doesn’t answer.

I start walking back to the house, scrolling through the photos a couple more times before I slide it back in the case on my arm before I pick up the pace. Regan could be the one. Like Dad was saying—the something more thing. She’s got this quality that I can’t put my finger on.

There’s something about her I’ve always been drawn to. Maybe it’s the fire that burns under the surface of her quietness. I can feel it. Every once in a while, I get to see a glimpse of it. It’s such a turn-on. I chuckle to myself. I guess that’s why I like to push her buttons and get her riled up. What’s that saying, like a moth to a flame? I’m the moth. She’s the flame. Tssssizzle!

Tobi so different from Regan. She’s both yin and yang. Soft and hard. She’s smokin’ hot and works damned hard. Most of the chumps in school would start whining after an hour around the farm. What she does is harder than driving a tractor across a field for sure. Pssh, she runs circles around those douchebags—lookin’ like a dream the entire time.

We’re kind of alike too. Our families have farms, and she’s always up for a good laugh and a good time like me. I’d jump at the chance to date her.

Haylee, on the other hand, is so stinking cute. She and I really are the closest. We hang out by ourselves and watch action flicks a lot. I know she’s hiding something from me, from the gang. I wish she’d tell me, but I’m not going to bring it up.

Since we’re close like that, it’s probably not a good idea to step over that friend line. Oh, but from the first moment I saw her walk in the classroom in sixth grade, I wanted to kiss her pouty lips. Girls were annoying to me back then. My chest shakes with laughter.

Girls can still be annoying, but I’d kiss about any one of them.

Just because Haylee has pouty lips doesn’t mean I want to be more than friends with her, though. We have a different kind of chemistry. Besides, I want to kiss lots of girls. Like, I think about it a lot.

But I’ve wanted to touch Regan’s lips, waist, face, everything for the past two years. She changed a lot from eighth grade to our freshman year.

Today might be the day I do something about it.

The sun is warm and feels good on my skin. After the text from Tobi and scrolling through my life from last night, the grass looks greener. The mixture of weeds along the road and the crops of the fields go perfectly with the clear blue sky. Man, I can’t wait to spend time at the cliffs this year—with the G5.

I pick up the pace and think about me and three girls. Me and Regan.

This is going to be the best summer ever.
